Baby Buddy, the free, NHS-endorsed pregnancy and parenting app used by hundreds of thousands of families across the UK, has added new maternity and paternity rights content, funded by the Aviva Foundation. This update aims to give parents trusted, easy-to-understand guidance on their employment rights, financial entitlements and legal protections, built right into the app they already use.

This update aims to give parents trusted, easy-to-understand guidance on their employment rights, financial entitlements and legal protections, built right into the app they already use.
Created with expert guidance, the update tackles a problem that hits families at their most financially fragile moment. Each year an estimated 54,000 mothers in the UK lose their jobs through pregnancy or maternity discrimination, while around £24 billion in benefits and support goes unclaimed — much of it simply because parents don't know what they are entitled to. Today, 72% of children living in poverty are in a household where at least one adult works.
