LONDON, UK – Bloomsbury Publishing today celebrates its 40th anniversary with the installation of a 10-foot statue of Diana the Huntress in London's historic Bedford Square. Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt, has been associated with Bloomsbury since its earliest days and remains a symbol of the company, its heritage and independent spirit.

The installation marks 40 years since Bloomsbury was founded, during which it has grown from an independent start-up into a leading international publishing company. While much has changed over four decades, Bloomsbury remains true to its founding principles: championing writers, editorial excellence, originality and long-term thinking.

Four decades later, independence remains one of the company’s defining strengths. Through its Academic & Professional and Consumer divisions, Bloomsbury publishes an extraordinary universe of scholarship, storytelling and ideas. Its authors include three Nobel Prize in Literature winners, four Booker Prize winners, three Pulitzer Prize winners, alongside J.K. Rowling and Sarah J. Maas, two of the world’s biggest-selling authors.

Located outside Bloomsbury's offices in Bedford Square, the statue of Diana celebrates 40 years of championing creativity and original thinking. As the goddess of the hunt, Diana symbolises Bloomsbury's continued search for outstanding writers, ideas and stories. Bedford Square sits at the heart of an area long associated with the UK publishing industry and inspired the company's name when it was founded in 1986.

Alongside the statue, The Wandering Chapter book van is visiting Bedford Square and distributing free books as part of the anniversary celebrations.
