23rd October 2025: It’s no secret that owners all wonder what their pets get up to when they’re not around - but new research reveals the truth may be even more surprising than expected.

According to new data from Life 360, the world’s leading family safety app, a staggering 95% of UK pet owners admit they constantly worry about their pet’s safety, with nearly 2 in 5 (39%) feeling most anxious when their furry friends are outdoors alone. It’s no surprise then that 4 in 10 (40%) Brits say they’ve lost a pet before, or that 3 in 5 (59%) confess to accidentally feeding someone else’s cat instead of their own.

The majority of pawrents believe that when alone, their pets were simply snoozing the day away (65.9%). Others think their dogs and cats spend their unsupervised time playing with their toys (39%), or sneaking outside to explore (29%). A few even suspect the occasional act of mischief (28%) or a secret trip to the next door house (13%) - something Life360’s new Pet Tracker will soon help reveal.
