Over 10,000 Restaurants Invited to Join UK-Wide Cultural Celebration

National initiative aims to support local restaurants, boost high street footfall, and honour one of Britain’s most loved cuisines

London, UK – 9 July 2025 — The British Indian Good Food Guide has launched the UK’s first-ever British Indian Restaurant Week, a nationwide initiative to celebrate Indian cuisine and the restaurants that have helped shape Britain’s culinary identity.

Running from 1–7 September 2025, the campaign invites Indian restaurants across the UK to participate by offering fixed-price menus — including two-course set meals starting from £20. The initiative is designed to encourage the public to dine out, discover new venues, and support their local favourites — from Michelin-starred kitchens to much-loved curry houses.

British Indian Restaurant Week is a national campaign powered by the British Indian Good Food Guide — the respected, independent authority behind the UK’s Top 100 and Top 20 Indian restaurant listings.

Developed in response to urgent challenges facing the hospitality industry, the initiative aims to spotlight the cultural and economic importance of Britain’s Indian restaurant sector and encourage diners back into restaurants during a critical trading period.

This campaign is a chance to rediscover and support the restaurants that help shape our communities.”

A VITAL SECTOR UNDER PRESSURE

The UK hospitality sector continues to face significant challenges:

● Over 17,000 hospitality businesses are expected to close this year

● Nearly half of restaurant owners say they may not survive the next 12 months

● Indian restaurants support over 100,000 jobs across more than 10,000 venues nationwide

● The sector contributes an estimated £4 billion annually to the UK economy

British Indian Restaurant Week 2025 has been developed in close consultation with restaurant owners, chefs, and community leaders — a direct, independent response to industry needs, focused on visibility, collaboration, and public engagement.

Family-run, award-winning Raval Indian Brasserie & Bar in Newcastle Gateshead — named one of the UK’s best Indian restaurants outside London by the British Indian Good Food Guide — is among the first to back the campaign.

“When the British Indian Good Food Guide approached us, we were delighted to take part — to seize an opportunity to make a difference,” said Nas Islam, Restaurant Manager at the award‑winning Raval Indian Brasserie & Bar. “British Indian restaurants have fed this country for generations — yet since April, the UK has lost 69,000 hospitality jobs. This campaign is about championing our food culture, our teams, and the high street. We encourage all good Indian restaurants to get behind it — to celebrate our cuisine, give back to our communities, and help make this the biggest event of its kind in the UK.”

HOW RESTAURANTS CAN TAKE PART

Important: Signing up is only for participation in British Indian Restaurant Week — not for inclusion in the British Indian Good Food Guide or its rankings.

To be included in the national campaign directory, restaurants must register by 31 July. The official online directory launches in the first week of August.
