Nicola McQueen has been appointed Group CEO of CCH Group, in a major NHS-to-social-care leadership move as the sector enters its most consequential period of change.

CCH Group, with 16,000 employees across 286 sites and 32 operating companies, has appointed Nicola McQueen as Group Chief Executive Officer, bringing NHS-scale operational and workforce expertise into social care as national policy accelerates the shift from hospital to community.

McQueen joins from NHS Professionals, where she served as Chief Executive for seven years.

CCH’s teams operate at the intersection of NHS pressures, local authority commissioning and community care delivery, precisely where integration now has to move from policy into practice.

“The NHS 10-Year Health Plan is right about the direction of travel, but the community care workforce is the critical enabler that is not yet getting enough attention.

“I have spent seven years understanding how workforce systems work at scale: the recruitment pipelines, the deployment inefficiencies, the retention levers. That experience is directly transferable into domiciliary care, and CCH is the right organisation to demonstrate what high-quality community care can look like when it is run with genuine operational discipline.

“The government is talking about shifting care into the community. I want CCH to be the organisation that shows what that actually means in practice, for carers, for the people we support, and for the NHS systems that depend on us.”

McQueen takes up the role with a clear mandate: to strengthen CCH’s operational foundations, deepen its NHS partnerships and build the data infrastructure and clinical credibility that will allow CCH to function as the defining delivery partner for integrated care at national scale.

“Integrated Care Boards are looking for community partners who can support people with complex needs at volume and provide the data transparency commissioners need. CCH has the geographic footprint and the infrastructure to be that partner. We are building the clinical credibility and system relationships to match,” said McQueen.

For McQueen, the stakes extend beyond the operational.

“Health and social care may be organised separately, but people do not experience them separately. If the country is serious about moving care into the community, social care has to be part of the operating model from the start.

“The NHS saves lives. Social care sustains them. We are ready to play our part in turning policy ambition into practical solutions at scale.”
