BEST DATES TO TRAVEL

It’s good news for British travellers: as shown by KAYAK’s data, flight prices from the UK are currently stable or decreasing across the globe for summer 2024, so wherever you're thinking of heading, chances are you'll snag a deal to get you there. And the more flexible you can be with your dates, the better, with ‘Shoulder Season’ being the optimal period to secure the best value flights. KAYAK data suggests:

24 June is currently the ideal week to fly within Europe, with prices found for around £205 on average; early September is showing low fares too

For those looking to travel outside Europe, the week of 9th September currently offers the lowest fares averaging around £630.

Prices also look low in the second week of June.

The week of 22 July is not the best for deal seekers, prices peak across most routes

For those looking for inspiration for their summer getaway, KAYAK has revealed its best value locations for 2024 in and outside Europe. African destinations dominate the top 5 locations with the lowest average flight prices, and Marrakesh, Morocco comes out on top at an average price of £224. For those looking for a good value European trip, Dublin, Ireland tops KAYAK’s best value destinations with average flight prices at £107, while average flights to tourist hotspot Copenhagen, Denmark come out at £120.

TOP SEARCHED FOR SUMMER DESTINATIONS

KAYAK’s analysis shows that Brits look destined to head East this summer with Bangkok, Thailand topping the most searched for summer 2024 destinations amongst Brits, according to KAYAK data, while Manilla, Philippines and Islamabad, Pakistan also feature in the top 5.

TOP TRENDING SUMMER DESTINATIONS 2024

Looking at destinations that have surged in popularity over the past year, KAYAK’s Travel Check In: Summer 2024 also reveals Football Fever is set to take hold as German destinations have shown the biggest search increases YoY- according to KAYAK search data with British football fans choosing to take off for German venue cities of Düsseldorf, Munich, and Cologne.

Further afield, loosening visa restrictions and border openings post-Covid may be the reason for a swing in YoY flight searches to China this summer. Search increases across the country include: Fuzhou up 131% YoY, Beijing up 55% YoY and Guangzhou up 50% YoY. Travellers hoping to head east might also be buoyed by falling flight prices to China, with KAYAK data revealing Chinese destinations showing the biggest flight price decreases this year:
