• Lucky expats Dan, Zoe, Claire, and Amanda reunited with their mums for Mother’s Day all thanks to Red Letter Days

London, 15th March 2023 – Having revealed all the nation’s mums and mother figures wanted this Mother’s Day is time with their children, Red Letter Days reunited four lucky families ahead of the special day for the first time in years.

On a mission to reconnect families, the leading gift experience provider launched a brand-new offering to the website – the option to apply for flights home to see mum. After receiving an influx of touching stories, it was impossible for the judges to choose just one and in the end four families were reunited.

Dan (Melbourne, Australia), Zoe (Sydney, Australia), Claire (Tokyo, Japan), and Amanda (Cancun, Mexico) were amongst the few chosen to fly back to the UK to spend valuable time with their mums.

The reunions were held at specially selected Red Letter Days experiences. From a Royal Afternoon Tea at The Rubens at the Palace, just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace, to being transported to Gotham City at the glamorous DC inspired Park Row restaurant in the heart of Soho. The expats also had the opportunity to take in the amazing London views at the iconic View from The Shard and finally delight in a scrumptious meal at the vibrant Mr White’s by Marco Pierre White.

Dan, 34, who is originally from Enfield, London, left mum Jo behind when he jetted to Melbourne to live with wife Gaya in 2017. He secretly flew across the globe to surprise his mum at the royal and regal setting of The Rubens at The Palace. Sneaking up behind Jo, the shock reunion didn’t leave a dry eye in the room.

Due to Covid and his own health struggles Dan has been unable to fly home to visit Jo while she battled two breast cancer diagnoses and underwent two major operations.

But finally, Dan, who was diagnosed with epilepsy from age 16, got to hold his beloved mum in his arms after he was given the opportunity by Red Letter Days to be home ahead of Mother’s Day.

Dan Arthur, 34, of Melbourne, Australia said: “Apart from the birth of my children and getting married, this is the best thing that’s ever happened to me”.

Tears flowed in this emotional video unveiling Zoe, 33, being reunited with her mum for the first time in 18 months.

Zoe hasn’t seen her mum for such a long time due to the prices of flights heightening post-covid along with her mum’s busy schedule as a primary school teacher.

But she was reunited with her ‘soul mate’ and ‘best friend’ after winning a Red Letter Days competition to be home in time for Mother’s Day at Mr White’s by Marco Pierre White to delight in a delicious meal and flowing champagne.

Zoe Murray, 33, of Sydney, Australia said: “I just can’t believe this happened, we couldn’t have asked for a better time, and we really appreciate it all. To be able to spend this time with my Mum has just made my year.”
