4. A third of all Brits wait until the day before to get their Easter eggs, whilst a few of us cut it even closer and wait for the big day to ‘roll’ around before purchasing.

New research reveals that, while the cost of living continues to bite, the majority of Brits will still be spending money on sweet treats this Easter, with the average spend on eggs and chocolatey goodies sitting at £25.88 per person1.

The research, conducted by Generation Logistics, a recruitment campaign for the logistics industry, has delved into the spending habits of the British public this Easter, uncovering how much they plan to spend on chocolatey treats, and how Easter goods are delivered to the nation.

Despite the rising cost of living, the research found that the majority of Brits plan to spend money on a little indulgence this Easter (97%), with one in five planning on filling their Easter baskets with over a whopping £50 worth of treats (13%). On the flip side, not everyone will be dipping into their purses, with 2% of the British public claiming they won’t be spending on a seasonal treat this year.

When it comes to timings, nine in 10 (88%) have already bought all of their Easter eggs and treats for the upcoming celebration, although 12% of us will hold out until the day itself before shopping – perhaps in the hope of an Easter bargain!

Despite a quarter of Brits claiming that they would be upset if there was an Easter egg shortage (25%), nearly half of people confessed to not knowing how the chocolate creations actually make it to our supermarket shelves (47%). As the “real-life Easter bunny”, enjoying Easter treats wouldn’t be a possibility without the logistics industry hopping to the rescue. From sourcing and shipping the raw ingredients from around the world to filling warehouses with products and travelling down the open road before finally landing on our supermarket shelves, Easter eggs would not make it to our shops without the wealth of backroom “bunnies” who make Easter become a reality for Brits. Like our unseen Easter hero, and despite offering a huge array of roles across the sector for everyone from school leavers, to graduates, work-returners and career changers, logistics is a career that 90% of people have never considered for themselves.
