Seven wakeboarders from Great Britain will compete for their country in a major international Championships next week.

The athletes are among 174 riders heading to the 2026 IWWF European & African Youth and Senior Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships. The competition takes place in Slovakia from 26 to 29 August.

The Championships attract the region’s best wakeboarders across a range of age categories, from Under 14s to Over 40s. They will be testing their skills on a range of features and obstacles in the cable park at Wakelake in Bratislava.

The British competitors are:

Under 14s

Noah Barrett (13), from Beeston, Nottingham. Noah is the 2026 Under 14 Boys’ British Wakeboard Champion.

Under 18s

Jessie Saunders (15), from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Jessie is the 2026 Under 18 Girls’ British Wakeboard Champion.

Amber Flegg (18), from Bletchley, Buckinghamshire. Amber is the 2026 Open Ladies’ British Wakeboard Champion.

Finnley Barker (15), from Orsett, Essex. Finnley is the 2026 Under 18 Men’s British Champion in both Wakeboard and Wakeskate.

Samuel Rozputynski (18), from South Molton, Devon. Samuel is the 2026 Under 18 Men’s British Wakeboard Champion.

Over 40s

Karena Clayton (47) from Chertsey, Surrey. Karena was the 2025 Over 40 Ladies’ British Wakeboard Champion.

Stephanie Williams Caller (41), who lives in Les Houches, France. Stephanie was the 2024 Over 30 Ladies’ European & African Wakeboard Champion and the Over 30 Ladies' silver medallist at the 2024 World Cable Wakeboard Championships.

The GB Team Captain for the event is Kieran Saunders from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, who is Jessie’s older brother. At 22, Kieran is not eligible to compete in the Championships.

Cable Wakeboarding & Wakeskating

Wakeboarders wear boots that are attached to the board (like snowboarders) while wakeskaters stand directly on the board (like skateboarders).

In cable wakeboarding and wakeskating riders use a cable tow and perform tricks over obstacles or features at a specially designed wake park. They are scored on the difficulty and variety of their tricks and how well they perform them, for example their airtime, height, control and style.

British Water Ski & Wakeboard (BWSW) is the sport’s national governing body and a non-profit making membership organisation. All its income is invested in developing and protecting water skiing and wakeboarding across the UK from the grassroots to our top athletes. 2026 is our 75th anniversary.

The IWWF is the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation, the sport’s world governing body to which national organisations such as BWSW are affiliated.
